ABOUT

Frederikke Kampmann received her education from the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen as well as Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien. Additionally, she holds a master's degree from the Royal Academy of Music, Aarhus. She sang her first professional opera role at the age of just 23 and has since established herself as one of the most sought-after sopranos in Denmark.

Frederikke is a frequent guest with the Danish symphony orchestras. Most recently, she sang Handel's 'Messiah' with the Danish Philharmonic Orchestra, a large Mozart project "We Build a Mozart Opera" with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra, and Bach's 'Christmas Oratorio' with the Odense Symphony Orchestra. With Orkester Midtvest and Copenhagen Phil, she most recently sang the soprano part of Gabriel/Eva in Haydn's 'The Creation.'

Frederikke's repertoire is broad, and she has performed with several Danish stars, from Birthe Kjær to Preben Kristensen, as well as international opera names like Bryn Terfel and Angelika Kirchschlager. The latter has also been her teacher in Lied interpretation in Vienna.

It is not uncommon for Frederikke Kampmann to venture into performing contemporary music, and she has thus been part of several world premieres both in Denmark and abroad. In 2017, she had a song cycle composed for her by Danish-Australian Benjamin de Murashkin titled Musik der Wogen, which she premiered at the Wiener Kammeroper. In 2024, she premiered and recorded Please accept a Sunset by Danish composer Erik Højsgaard with Athelas Sinfonietta under the baton of acclaimed conductor Robert Houssart. The recording will be released in 2025 on DaCapo records.

Frederikke has participated in about 40 opera productions both in Denmark and abroad. Most recently, she has sung Papagena in The Magic Flute at Den Ny Opera in Esbjerg, Barbarina in The Marriage of Figaro at Malmö Opera, Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro at Den Ny Opera in Esbjerg, Violetta Valéry in La Traviata with GuidOpera, Suor Genovieffa in Suor Angelica, and Dorabella in Lisbon Floor, composed by Matias Vestergård, at the Copenhagen Opera Festival. The latter opera won a Reumert award for Opera of the Year in 2023.

Throughout her career, Frederikke has received several scholarships and awards, including the Else Brems Travel Grant in 2021, as well as grants from the Royal Family, the Danish Actors' Association, and the Opera Singer Betty Bevald's Grant. She also received the prize for Young Opera Talent of the Year at the CPH Opera Festival in 2013 and the Aalborg Opera Prize and the Artist Award from the Music Critics' Association in 2022.

Frederikke Kampmann recently performed Berta in The Barber of Seville—her first role at the Royal Danish Theatre. In the summer and autumn of 2025, she will sing Violetta in La Traviata with the Danish National Opera.
